Chicken Curry

This is a fast meal with the taste of authentic chicken curry. I find it hard to make this in the Philippines, but because there are so many Indians in Bahrain, all spices here can be found anywhere.

Ingredients:

1 kg chicken thigh or breast skinned
2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp chili powder
5 pcs. minced garlic or paste
1 pc. pounded ginger or paste
1 large onion sliced
3 pcs. cardamom seed
2 pcs. cinnamon sticks
1 pc. bayleaf
1 cup water
1 large cut tomato
2 tbsp. cooking oil

Procedure:

heat pan and saute onion, garlic, ginger and tomato. add chicken. Dissolve turmeric powder, chili powder and cumin in one cup water. Pour in the dissolve spices. Bring to boil then heat slowly. When chicken is cooked add bayleaf, cardamom seed (pinched to bring out small seeds inside), cinnamon sticks. Cook for another 2 minutes. Then served with basmati rice or with indian rice mix.

Burger Steak with Fries

Last night I felt so lazy to eat out, with 37 degrees celcius and 66 percent humidity weather, I knew that when I walk to the nearest restaurant, I could fill a bucket of sweat. So I open my fridge, but I can't find anything to eat except for a single hotdog in the freezer, but in one corner I found a small plastic bag and there it was, my old burger patties which I bought 3 weeks ago. So with a little inspiration from Jolibee's burger steak, I planned to copy the same meal, but to my horror, there is no sliced mushroom in the cabinet! What'll I do? I'm starving! but maybe an empty stomach could sometimes spark a little imagination :) So, I end up doing my own version of burger steak and it tastes great, at least for a hungry person like me. lol. Here it is, and I hope you'll like it too.

Ingredients:

3 pcs. burger patties
1 pc. onion
1 pc. celery stalk
2 pcs. large tomatoes
1/2 cup water
2 tsp. cooking oil
3 pcs. large potatoes

Procedure:

slice onion and celery stalk thinly. Cut tomatoes and mince. Heat cooking oil in the non sticky flat pan and grill burger patties until brown. sprinkle with salt and pepper then add tomatoes, onion and celery. Add 1/2 cup water. Simmer for 3 minutes. Set aside.

Heat large amount of oil in the pan. Peel and cut potatoes in large strips and fry until golden brown. Put in strainer when cook.

Serve burger and fries on the same plate.
